Three Proposals Sent to Representative
Council
MHSSCA sent the following proposals to
the May meeting of MHSAA Representative Council:

Proposal 1 |
Require helmets to be worn in
Giant Slalom event (approved). This proposal was taken a step
further - Representative Council moved to require helmets in both
Slalom and Giant Slalom. |

Proposal 2 |
Increase the number of teams
qualifying for the State Meet from 3 per Region to 4 per Region
(denied). |

Proposal 3 |
An individual qualifying to the
State Meet in one event be allowed to participate in the other
event (denied). |
Committee Opening
Bill Miilu will be stepping down from
his duties on the Hall of Fame Committee effective October 28, 2001.

Stanek Named National Coach of the
Year
Jerry Stanek of Suttons Bay High School
was selected as one of eight finalists for the NHSACA National Special
Sports Coach of the Year. Jerry was honored at the National Coach of the
Year banquet Friday, June 29, 2001 in Fargo, North Dakota. Congratulations
Jerry - a very deserving honor.
